Traveling towards God
During the average person's lifetime most people will have a sense that there is more to life than what they have been experiencing. This may happen at any age, but very often it happens after a person has a sense of accomplishment but feels that there is a hole or empty space in their life. Some people turn to excessive work, alcohol, sex - you name it. After trying these readily available options and still feeling empty - many finally turn to religion.
Going to church and getting involved in a faith community helps to initially fill that void. However, after spending time in these activities, that empty feeling seems to return. After investing countless hours in bible study, prayer groups and community service projects, it is disappointing to realize that you still are not feeling fulfilled in your life. Searching for that special something to fill that void can be very frustrating.
A big step in filing that void may be venturing out of ones comfort zone and trying something completely different. Traveling to far away places to seek a deeper connection with God is an option that I have experienced and found that it works! There are many such places available to most everyone. Going to the Holy Land where it all started is an excellent place to start. Of course you would not want to do that on your own. To gain the maximum benefit from a trip such as this requires traveling with people who have been there previously and can lend their training and insight to you. Utilizing the services of trained tour guides and ordained clergy who are willing to share their time and attention to people seeking such an experience would be very helpful.
Traveling with support staff who understand your needs as a pilgrim goes a long way to you maximizing the benefits of your investment of time and money. If done properly your experience will help fill that empty space in your life and place you on a path to a life of adventure and learning about yourself and your God.
